A commitment ceremony is a meaningful celebration of the bond of love between two people and a public affirmation of their commitment to one another. Some couples decide to celebrate this commitment with a simple private ceremony. Others decide to have a large celebration with their family and friends.
Commitment ceremonies are conducted for a variety of reasons. Perhaps one or both parties are unable to divorce, whereas others may not want to be ‘legally bound’ to another but wish to live together in a committed relationship.
There is no period of notice such as is required when planning a wedding, so a commitment ceremony can happen in a short time frame.
